NOW HIRING for Summer Camp 2010

We are now hiring for our camp held at the YMCA of Middletown!

YMCA of Middletown will be interviewing for Camp Counselors May 17 – 25.  Applicants must be available to work Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m.– 4:30 p.m. June 28 – August 20, in addition to 30+ hours training in evenings and on weekends during the month of June beginning the week of the 8th. There are limited openings.  Applicants must be 18 + or older and have experience working with children. 

Summer Camp Specialty Instructor Wanted:        Art/Dance/Music/Garden/Journaling                                                                                  background and ability to teach

                                                  pre-School through teens.

     

Leader In Training Counselor Wanted:               Overseeing Leaders in Training participants

                                                                            ages 13 – 14. 

Health Director/Summer Counselor:                    Current training through August 20, 2010                                                                             in the following:  First Aid, CPR/AED for                                                                             the Professional Rescuer.  Also, must have                                                                             experience working as a Camp Counselor

                                                                            or working with children.        

                                                                 

SUMMER CAMP INFORMATION

 

Each year the YMCA of Middletown strives to provide a wide variety of activities to build each child's body, mind, and spirit and this year is no exception.  We integrate new activities into traditional camp themes, so the children can benefit not only through new experiences, but familiar ones as well.  As always, we incorpoorate the YMCA Core Values

of CARING, HONESTY, RESPECT, and RESPONSIBILITY into our daily routine.  Our mission is to support our camp philosophy through activities that spark enthusiastic challanges and lots of fun!

 

SUMMER DAY CAMP

Our experienced staff will provide a supervised and nurturing environment striving to incorporate the 40 Developmental Assets, as well as the YMCA’s Core Values of caring, respect, responsibility and honesty. We will work to promote skills like good sportsmanship, team building and self esteem.

Camp Session Dates:

Session 1: June 28th-July 9th

Session 2: July 12th-July 23rd

Session 3: July 26th-August 6th

Session 4: August 9th-August 20th

Totally Trip Week:  August 23rd- August 27th

Explorers Half Day Program
Ages (3 - 5)  9am - 1:30pm (no extended hours for this program)
The explorer day camp program is customized for the younger child who needs a more structured and nurturing atmosphere. Our camp program promotes socialization and interaction through a variety of age appropriate activities in an exciting environment. Campers will enjoy activities, both indoors and outdoors, that foster both large and fine motor skill development and finish each day with a swim lesson. These campers must be picked up at the pool each day at 1:30 PM. Children will need to bring lunch, snacks and drinks daily.  In order to participate, your child must be 3 years old by December 1st, 2009 and be toilet trained.

Fee: $208.00 per 2 week session.

Explorers Full Day Program
Ages (3 - 5)  9am – 4:00pm (extended hours available)
Along with our traditional Explorer Camp, we are offering a full day for your 3-5 year old if the morning program hours does not fit your schedule. You also have the option of using our pre and post camp hours, extending your child’s day. This program is a great day care alternative and has limited spaces available. This day will have the same basic model as our half day EXPLORER Camp with added enhancements to the day including a rest time and literacy component. Children will need to bring lunch, snacks and drinks daily.  In order to participate, your child must be 3 years old by December 1st, 2009 and be toilet trained.

Fee: $322.00 per 2 week session.

Pioneer Day Camp
Ages (5 - 8) 9am – 4pm (extended hours available)
Our goal is to provide a safe, supervised camp program jam packed with stimulating and fun activities.  As always we will have the traditional camp favorites such as swim lessons, arts and crafts and sports.  We will also enhance our program with stories, songs, music and some goopy projects.  Pioneeer camp will allow your child to improve their social skills, appreciate diversity and deveopl leadership skills while having fun. With extended hours available this is a great child care alternative.  In order to participate in Pioneer Camp, your child must be 5 years old prior to the start of camp.

Fee: $322.00 per 2 week session.

Adventure Day Camp
Ages (9 - 13) 9am – 4pm (extended hours available)
Adventure camp is geared toward the older child.  This program incorporates the use of field trips, visits to our outdoor facility in Otisville and our new Camp Discovery in Monroe and time at the YMCA to encourage a camper's physical and socail development. There will be a mixture of activities to encourage socialization, good sportsmanship and FUN.  Each session Adventure campers will participate in at least one field trip, spend time at our outdoor facility Winnetaska and end each session with a campout at this rural rustic setting (weather permitting).  Feld trips will include old favorites such as Slpash Down, Fun Central, High Point, and a Renegades Baseball game.  If your child is late or does not wish to participate in the field trip, he/she will not be allowed to remain at the YMCA in Pioneer Camp.  Please note that there is a possibility that schedules could cahnge and that all activities may not be offered each day or session.  Children registered in the Adventure Program must be 9 years old prior to the beginning of the camp session

Fee: $400.00 per 2 week session.


Young Adventurers Day Camp
Ages (9 - 11) 9am – 4pm (extended hours available)

Our Young Adventurers Camp was a popular new addition last year.  This camp is for children ages 9-11 and is an extension of our Pioneer Camp model. For a lesser fee, Young Adventurers will have the opportunity to stay on site at the Y and experience a camp day similar to our Pioneers with more age appropriate activities. Lots of group games, cooperative challenges and special events and activities. Please note that there are no bus transported field trips in this camp.

Fee: $322.00 per 2 week session.


Leaders In Training
Ages (13 - 14) 9:00am – 4pm (no extended hours available)
These teens will learn and develop camp skills needed to become future counselors. Participants will have the opportunity to shadow counselors and spend time assisting with hands on activities.  This camp will focus on personal growth through confidence building, as well as through interaction with campers.

Fee: $214.00 per 2 week session.

Pre and Post Camp

Ages (3 - 13) 7am-9am or 4pm-6pm
For an additional fee, our extended hours allow your child to continue to participate in the fun and fellowship of camp before (7am-9am) or after (4pm-6pm) the traditional camp hours of 9am-4pm. Pre-registration is required and is available on a whole session basis only. This program is not available to Explorer Half Day Camp.
Fee: $55.00 per 2 week session/ $103.00 per session for both Pre and Post Camp.

Totally Trip Week (August 24th- August 28th)
Ages (5 - 13) 9:00am – 4pm (extended hours available)

Trip week is unique in that both Pioneers and Adventurers can participate. This week we will be venturing out each day on an exciting field trip. Trip schedule will be based on favorite trip feedback from our campers.

Fee: $208.00 for the week. 

$26.00 for Pre or Post Camp OR $50 for both Pre and Post Camp.

 

         

 

Camp Discovery

Summer Day Camp @ Harriman State Park

 

         

This is our third year at our beautiful Camp Discovery. This camp was put in place for the purpose to better serve our families with a need for year-round child care.  Whether you live in Monroe area or commute through the area this will be a great alternative for your child.  The YMCA has provided camp in Orange County for more than 75 years and this camp venue will certainly benefit from our experience and expertise.  This rustic and wooded area spans many acres and includes cabins, Gathering hall, buildings for special activites, a basketball court, row boats and canoes and the use of Upper Twin Lake.  Our campsite is located on Upper Twin Lake in Harriman State Park 5 miles from Central Valley, just minutes from the top of Route 6.  Bus transportation will be available from 7:00 am & 8:00 am pick up and a 5:00pm & 6:00pm drop off.  Drop off and pick up will be at Central Valley Elementary School.  Some of the themes this year are "Lights, Camera, Action", Wild Crazy Kids, Color Wars, and back by popular demand Drama week.This is only half the fun your child will have in camp!  There will also be boating, swimming, hiking, arts & crafts, sports, and so much more.  Check us our on Facebook at YMCA Camp Discovery. Pioneer Day Camp
Ages (5 - 7)

Adventure Day Camp
Ages (8 - 12)
Adventure camp is a unique blend of fun and fellowship that targets the older child. Each day Adventure campers will explore new things and partner with other youth to forge new friendships.  Nature, arts and crafts, sports and games, drama, special events, swimming, boating, and environmental education is basis for a typical camp day.  These traditional camp activites will enhance each session.  NEW Overnights!  We will be having our first overnight this year.  This will be held on the last Thursday of each session.  That dates are as follows:  July 8th, July 22nd, August 5th, and August 19th.  The fee for each overnight is $10.00.  More information to follow.

NEW Leaders In Training
Ages (13 - 14) 9:00am – 4pm (no extended hours available)

We call our teens "Leaders in Training" or LIT. We want them to become strong leaders and positive role models for our younger campers.  We will guide, encourage, and routinely provide and create an atmosphere for respect and fun!  Our LIT's will learn and develop skills needed to become future counselors. Participants will have the opportunity to focus on personal growth through confidance building, team building, and so much more.
