Back To Top Wellness Center Our Wellness Centers are complete with free weights, strength training equipment, and cardiovascular machines including treadmills, ellipticals, stair climbers, summit trainers, stationary bikes, recumbent bikes, AMT’s, ARC trainers, UBE’s, and rowing machines. Many of our cardio machines are equipped with individual televisions and all machines are in viewing distance of televisions that can be linked to the machine you are on. The brand of equipment and quantity of each varies at each of our locations. We ask members to please limit their workouts to 30 minutes during peak hours and to wipe down their machines with the antibacterial cleanser after each use. Not sure how to use the machines? Back To Top Indoor track Our indoor track which encircles our Wellness center at the YMCA of Middletown is 1/20 of a mile. Perfect for walking or jogging. Base Camp A specialized area designated for those individuals who are new to exercise, returning to exercise, sporadic exercisers, and/or recovering from injuries or illness. Members may use the court free of charge but must be reserve court time in advance. All members in the racquetball area must wear protective eyewear. Members must bring all necessary equipment to play. Back To Top Youth and Family Fun Center The Youth & Family Fun Center is a special activity room at the YMCA of Middletown dedicated to our youth members, ages 7-12 years old and their family members. The room is supervised at all times by one of our energetic youth department employees. The Hoist equipment in this room is for members ages 7 and older and 4’1” to 5’6” tall. An equipment orientation will be provided to all youth members ages 7-12 and is strongly recommended for members 13 and older. Members will also utilize the gymnasium where they will play a variety of sports and group games. After a hard workout, kids can continue to challenge themselves by playing games on our Wii. Back To Top Youth Center The Youth Center at the South Orange Family YMCA is for youth ages 6 to 12 years old and is designed for kids to participate in numerous activities to build a strong body, mind, and spirit. Youth can socialize with peers and build new friendships while playing sports in the gym, doing arts & crafts, playing video games on the Wii or Play Station 3, or working out in the youth fitness area. Our rock climbing wall will be open soon and will be added to the list of activities kids can participate in during their experiences in the Youth Center. Back To Top Child Watch Child Watch is a free program that allows adult family members to drop off their children in a fun, safe and age appropriate environment, while parents participate in YMCA activities and work-outs. Child watch is for YMCA members only. Age limits and hours of operation vary by branch. This program is designed for only temporary care of children, so we do ask that you adhere to the two hour maximum. In addition, though we allow children up to age 12 to visit Child Watch, we have limited entertainment and activities for children ages 7 and up. Back To Top Preschool The preschool programs at the YMCA of Middletown are filled with motivating and stimulating activities that will challenge your child and help him or her grow individually. We will work on socialization, cognitive and literacy skills, along with gross and fine motor development. Nurturing and experienced teachers plan a fun-filled age appropriate curriculum. The South Orange Family YMCA hosts camp at our Camp Discovery located in Harriman State Park, an easy stop for parents commuting to and from Rockland County, Westchester County, or New York City. The Sullivan County YMCA hosts summer day camp at the Town of Thompson park. The camp is only open to residents of the Town of Thompson. Please click here to visit our CAMP page to learn more. Back To Top Locker Rooms Lockers are for day use only. All locks must be removed at the end of each visit. Age restrictions vary by branch. The YMCA of Middletown and the South Orange Family YMCA both have unisex facilities available for families Back To Top Steam and Sauna Rooms The YMCA of Middletown provides both steam rooms and saunas within our Men's/Boys & Women's Locker Rooms. The steam room provides an enjoyable moist heat environment while the sauna provides a dry environment with higher temperatures. Soothe aches and pains, release tension, detoxify the body, and relax in our steam room and sauna. Please consult your physician before use if you have any health concerns and limit use to no more than 20-30 minutes. Back To Top |
