Get Involved

This is the place where EVERYONE can play a part and lend a hand.  We are always looking for dedicated Staff Members and Volunteers who are looking to make a positive impact in other people's lives.  And the YMCA was built on a foundation of Volunteerism and we still need people willing to give their time to make a difference.  In addition to getting involved in these ways, your local YMCA sponsors fun and charitable community special events all through the year in which you can participate.

What better way to get to know your neighbors than by helping to improve your community together?  Contribute an old garment in a coat drive, participate in a running race.  Bring the family out for our Healthy Family Day or enjoy safe trick-or-treating with your friends at the Y.  Your participation in these events helps the YMCA succeed in providing quality programs that serve our neighbors and our community.

Please explore this page to learn more about how you can make a lasting difference through your own personal contribution!

+/-       Volunteer Opportunities

The essential genius of the YMCA, allowing it to flourish as the largest, most impactful not for profit organization in the world, is the partnership between community volunteers and YMCA professional Staff. The Board of Directors works with the CEO and Staff to identify community issues and service voids and then develops a strategic plan for acquiring the financial and people resources required to deliver services to thousands of people. Space constraints and limitations with financial resources always force the organization to balance the needs of many divergent groups. The Y currently has 19 people on its Board of Directors, who cumulatively bring particular skill sets, resources and passion in leading the organization. Additionally, hundreds of volunteers assist as coaches of youth sports, or help at community events, the Ruthie Run and Family Nights.

It takes only a few hours each week to make a difference in the lives of others:
     • Help a person learn how to swim
     • Coach a child in sports
     • Serve on a committee
     • Assist in a fund raising event
     • Use your painting, office or maintenance skills

There’s much to be done, and we’d love to fit you into a unique spot at the YMCA of Middletown. The opportunity is here and we look forward to hearing from you. Please contact Shavon Stallings, Human Resources Director, at 845.956.1491.   Click Here for YMCA of Middletown 2011 Volunteer Application form.
